Sibling Preparation

Sibling Preparation is a two-hour class for children 3 to 9 years of age. The first part of the class is designed for the soon to be big sister or big brother and deals with the changes of a growing family and appropriate interaction with the new baby. Class activities include drawing, doll play, videos and stories. The second part of the class is spent with the parents on normal adjustment for them and their older sibling(s), how to prepare, and tips for the adjustment period with the older child. The end of the class is labor and birth education for children whose parents are including them in the birth. Birth is presented as normal part of life in terms a child can understand. Parents not having children attend the birth can leave a little early if not comfortable with this segment of the class.

Sibling Preparation class will cover:
changes of a growing family
appropriate interaction with the new baby
tips for parents for a normal adjustment for them and their older sibling(s)
labor and birth education for children whose parents are including them in
  the birth class activities include drawing, doll play, videos and stories

Fee: $55, includes child and family/support. This class is only offered every other month.
